Huron OPP & Town of Goderich issue stern warning to Unsanctioned & Unauthorized Car Rallies

The Huron County OPP and the Town of Goderich have a stern warning for those considering on returning to the area to take part in unsafe driving and/or criminal activities saying “You’re Not Welcome Here”.

The message comes after police responded to a unauthorized modified car and truck rally in Goderich Saturday night around 9pm that resulted in 50 people taking part in illegal acts including mischief, dangerous driving, disturbing the peace, stunt driving and other offences.

Upon police arrival most participants dispersed, however several remained in the area. The unauthorized & unsanctioned event compromised public safety. Police have laid stunt driving charges in connect to the event.

Police and the Town will continue to monitor the situation through the weekend. Unsanctioned car rally participants can expect a heightened police presence in Goderich. Those acting unlawfully may be charged and their vehicles may be towed.
