Arrest of Wanted Suspect in Port Elgin May 4th results in 35 New Charges

Accused found at 700 block of Wellington Street and found in possession of fully loaded 45 calibre handgun, fully loaded 22 calibre revolver, bear spray and folding knife.

Saugeen Shores Police have seized several firearms and other weapons with the locating of a suspected wanted since March 30th.

On May 4th Detectives attended a residence in the 700 block of Wellington Street in efforts to locate the accused.

While on the property police could hear the male screaming from inside that he was in possession of a firearm.

Officers took cover and soon after the accused exited the residence and was under arrest without incident.

A search of the accused located multiple weapons including a fully loaded 45 calibre handgun, fully loaded 22 calibre revolver, bear spray and folding knife.

A subsequent search of the home revealed several firearms, weapons and ammunition.

The 29-year-old was charged 34 weapons related charges as well as assault of a police officer with a weapon.

He also was arrested on outstanding warrants for various charges including 9 of fraud under $5,000, mischief, uttering threats and voyeurism.

He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
