The Municipality of Kincardine is set to honour its beloved tradition of piping as part of the Canada Day Celebration on July 1st.
At 2 pm that day a plaque will be unveiled featuring the “Kincardine Lighthouse and the Phantom Piper” at Lighthouse located at the corner of Harbour Street and Huron Terrace.
The ceremony will include comments by both Mayor Kenneth Craig and Keith Davidson, as well as a unique daytime performance by the Phantom Piper.
Mounted on the lakeside of the Huron Terrace bride, the plaque sits far enough south so viewers can learn the history while enjoying a full view of the Lighthouse.
A person instrumental in the founding of the Phantom Piper was Eldon Humphreys who almost 30 years ago saw a similar ritual in Key West, Florida.
Phantom Piper performances for the 2023 season begin July 2nd and run every evening, except for Saturdays, beginning just before sunset.
