Grey Bruce Public Health is advising that smoke plumes from forest fires in Northeastern Ontario & Quebec have caused the air quality in Grey-Bruce to deteriorate for the second time this month, promoting Environment Canada to issue a Special Air Quality Statement for the area.

It has reached “High Risk” by last night and will remain at that level today.

At risk populations should reduce or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. Others should consider it as well.

Keeping windows closed, using air recirculation in HVAC systems, as well as installing new HEPA filters and seeking refuge in community centres, libraries, and shopping malls where those type of systems are often available.
