Saugeen First Nation provided an update on several matters relating to the North Sauble Beach.

In the release that say that while the new court decision ruled the beach is, and will always be, a part of the Saugeen Indian Reserve No. 29, it was left open the possibility of granting a life interest to parts of the beach to David Dobson and members of the Lemon and Twining families.

On June 30th Justice Vella agreed with Saugeen and Canada’s submissions that the court does not have the authority to grant 3rd party interests in the reserve and that the Town of South Bruce Peninsula doesn’t have any authority on reserve land.

It was declared that immediately no 3rd party has any interest in North Sauble Beach.

They also advised that new North & South Shore Suable Beach Bylaws have been enacted to ensure health & safety for beach users on North Sauble Beach.

Links to both were provided for reference.

North Shore Beach will remain open to the public as Saugeen First Nation continues to engage in productive discussions with the Town of South Bruce Peninsula and the Federal Government.
