The Town of Goderich will soon be equipping its Main Beach with a Mobi-chair floating wheelchair.

It can be booked by residents and visitors at the Tourism Centre starting August 8th.

Daily rentals will start August 21st.

An accessible beach mat is also in place over the sand at Main Beach leading to the water.

The wheelchair sees users secured with a harness for their safety.

It works like a conventional wheelchair and it floats in the water.

However it does require the assistance from another person to push.

Rentals will be free daily from 10 am to 5 pm from August 21st to September 30th.

The season next year will begin on June 1st.

The floating wheelchair has a weight capacity of 300 pounds.
