Grey Bruce OPP receive reports of 5 Scams in a 2 Day Period

They were reported Wednesday & Thursday and saw victims lose between $150 and $2,000 to investment frauds, fake concert tickets, a fake company and ID theft.

The Grey Bruce OPP are issues a warning to residents to stay vigilant against scammers after police received 5 calls in the span of 2 days.

The first two were on Wednesday when a caller called around 10:24 am to report they had sent $900 to an ecommerce investment company.

The second was at 6:17 pm when a person thought they purchased concert tickets and transferred $150 to the seller. They lost communication shortly after.

The other three were on Thursday, with the first at 8:31 am when a person thought they invested $2,000 in Elon Musk’s company.

The other was around 10:13 am when a victim  reported identity theft after a loan was taken out in their name.

The third was just over a half hour later when a victim had an item arrive they purchased online but it was not as described.

Police say there is no magic to prevent fraud.
