There will be the ending of an area at a community general store in Holyrood early next month.

That is when current owners Allan and Lucy Miller will see the property change hands to its new owners.

The couple have owned the General Store for 37 years.

Lucy speaks to how their time running the Holyrood General Store got started.

“We had a little wee store down at Langside in an Old Schoolhouse. We knew this wasn’t being used as a store but the building was open because they wanted to keep the Post Office alive. So we asked if they wanted to sell, and they said ok, so we bought it.”

The new owners are said to be from the Mount Forest area.

As for Allan and Lucy once the sale is complete they say a well deserved retirement is in store.
