A local heavy towing company shared word of a recent call they received to move a 27,000 pound sail boat after it ran a shore recently at Station Beach in Kincardine.

Aces Heavy Towing say  the boat was custom built in the local harbour 50 years ago by the same owner and their work began initial as a salvage operation.

They brought in specialized equipment including a 20,000 lb winch and 50 ton rotator to lift the vessel.

Once it was moved to prepare it for winter storage they found that all it had was a small leak in the keel and once repaired it would be ready to sail again next year.

They call it an interesting recovery, with a large group of onlookers.

They met some great people and learned a lot about sail boats.
