Bruce County CAO announces retirement after 43 Years of Public Service

Derrick Thomson, is set to retire on December 15, 2023 and have been in the position since April of 2022.

After 43 years of public service, Bruce County’s Chief Administrative Office, Derrick Thomson, has officially announced his intention to retire. His retirement date is set for December 15, 2023.

Warden Chris Peabody thanked Thomson for his public services and guiding leadership and added that Thomson has helped build a foundation of good governance and modernization, elevated key community growth projects, and pushed Bruce County to be an employer of choice.

They wished him all the best in his retirement.

He began managing Bruce County in April of 2022.

He successfully guided the municipality through several key projects, including the creation of the Intergovernmental Office and Community Development Office, completion of the new strategic plan and the right-sizing the County budget to handle real-time pressures on service & infrastructure needs.
