Branches of the Huron County Public Library are set to take part in a free menstrual product pilot project in collaboration with the Huron-Perth Period Poverty Taskforce.

It begins October 16th and sees select locations of libraries in Huron and Perth County have menstrual products available in their washrooms for free.

Beth Rumble, Director of Cultural Services and Huron County Librarian says it will not only fill a gap and ease a financial burden for many families, but also address the subject of mensuration head on without stigma.

Research indicates that almost two thirds of people who menstruate in Canada have missed work or school because of lack of access to necessary hygiene products.
