The Municipality of Kincardine and the Kincardine BIA announced the reopening of much of its downtown to vehicular traffic on Friday.

Queen Street is now open between Lambton Street and Durham Market Square South with on-street parking available.

The downtown businesses joined in a quick celebration yesterday to cheer and celebrate the occasion. Cherie Leslie, Community Economic Development Coordinator for the Municipality says there have been many enhancements made to the downtown including new sidewalks, decorative concrete, accessibility upgrades as well as much-needed replacement of the aging underground infrastructure.

The rest of the Downtown Dig project is set to be completed in November.

There is a celebration planned in conjunction with the grand reopening in conjunction with Lakeside Downtown Kincardine’s annual Hometown Christmas event on Saturday, November 17th.
