Investigation of stolen vehicle Wednesday results in Person being shot and SIU invoking mandate

35-year-old man received serious injuries after Officers discharged firearm during interaction at residence in Seaforth.

The Province’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating after a 35-year-old-man was shot on Wednesday morning by an OPP officer in Seaforth.

Preliminary investigation by the SIU has determined that early in the day police received report of a stolen vehicle.

Officers in an unmarked cruiser located it, and followed it until it pulled into a residence in Seaforth.

Officers approached and an interaction ensued.

At some point an officer discharged his firearm into the vehicle, and the vehicle took off.

The man was later dropped off at a hospital in Clinton, and the driver left.

The same vehicle later hit another vehicle and was abandoned.

The man suffered serious injuries.

Four investigators and 2 forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
