The Town of Saugeen Shores Council received a report at its most recent meeting on an issue being reported by residents in the Southampton area of odour concerns in areas north of the Saugeen River.
The Town has been working with R.J. Burnside Engineering to investigate possible causes of the issue and Jeff Paznar, from R.J. Burnside explains some of what they have found.
“In this case when we had our monitors, the aual highest concentrations were in the Tyndenaga Drive area and the Ottawa Avenue areas.”
The next steps for the investigation is to put cameras into the area found with irregularities of H2S levels, flush the sewers in the area and additional sampling.
The estimated cost of this work is around $15,000.
