The Community Foundation of Grey-Bruce has announced with the help of an anonymous donour, a new scholarship fund has been launched.
The Sharifur Rahman Memorial Scholarship Fund has kicked off, named after Rahman who died from injuries sustained in an assault outside of his restaurant in Owen Sound this August.
The scholarship is aimed to support Grey-Bruce students in post secondary with a strong preference for applicants who either themselves or their parents are newcomers to Canada as immigrants or refugees.
Executive Director of the Foundation Stuart Reid says the scholarship is a tribute to Sharifur’s generous spirit and will do good things in his name for a very long time.
