The provincial government is putting $445,000 to offer women training in practical carpentry and construction safety in Huron-Kinloss.

The initiative supported through the government’s Skills Development Fund offers funding to a range of organizations for innovative projects to address Ontario’s labour shortage and grow key sectors.

The Women in Construction Program introduces safe use, care and maintenance of hand portable and stationary power tools and finishing carpentry along with portion of the carpentry level 1 curriculum.

Mayor of Huron-Kinloss Don Murray says the investment will allow them to empower women in the community to forge a career in construction.
