The provincial government is investing $1.5 million in funding to Saugeen Hospice to support the construction of six residential hospice beds to ensure quality end of life care in Brockton.
Additional funding will be provided by the Ministry of Health when the build is complete including the operational funding increase of 45 per cent.

“This is about keeping families together at a very sensitive time when they want to be with their loved ones. People can be assured that if there is a choice to be made, they have an opportunity to ensure their loved ones have palliative care in a setting that is designed not only to support an individual at end of life but supports the family as well.” said Thompson.
The investment is in addition to Ontario’s $147.4 million investment to expand palliative care services across the province to improve support for residential hospices.
“This is a welcome investment from the provincial government that reflects their commitment to healthcare,” said Kelly Fotheringham, Saugeen Hospice Chair.
“And given the local need for palliative services, it’s particularly timely. Residents in Southern Grey Bruce Counties can take comfort in knowing that their beloved family members and friends have access to quality end-of-life care here at home.”
