Former Mayor of Arran-Elderslie Ron Oswald has passed away.
Oswald served on Arran-Elderslie council first as Mayor in 1999 with the amalgamation of Elderslie Township, Arran Township, Chesley, Paisley and Tara.
Oswald also served as Warden of Bruce County in 2006. Prior to amalgamation Ron was a councilor for Elderslie Township, a member of Chesley council and the Mayor of Chesley in 1999.
He retired from politics in 2010 after 40 years of service.
Mayor Hammell in a release says Ron’s leadership skills led during the time of amalgamation and set Arran-Elderslie on the path to the community it is today.
