Huron County is going forward with the construction of a new tunnel under Blyth Road connecting a portion of the G2G Rail Trail west of Blyth.

The tender awarded to Lavis Contracting came in a total cost of $414,557. Lavis was among the lowest of the bids received as well as the county working with Lavis before made it a clear cut choice.

With the tender now awarded the county can negotiate with Lavis and potentially could kickstart construction this spring.

The project surplus will be transferred back to the G2G Rail Trail Group once the project is finished.
