While the weather is ideal this weekend to head to the beach, six beaches across Huron-Perth have been deemed unsafe for swimming.

Due to high levels of bacteria the Huron-Perth Public Health Inspection Team says swimmers should avoid Goderich Rotary Cove, Black’s Point, St Joseph’s Beach, Port Blake, Hay Township Park and Houston Heights.

Public health says the heavy rainfall this week stirs up sand at the bottom of the lake where bacteria can be found.

The health team will be out again today to test waters with updates available on Saturday.
