Grey Bruce Public Health and Bruce County are partnering up to raise awareness around the link between oral health and overall health as well as available government programs to help seniors cover the cost of dental care.

40 per cent of seniors aged 65 and older or more than half of seniors over 85 are reported to not be visiting an oral health professional in the last 12 months with one in ten Canadians aged 60-79 having untreated cavities with nearly half of seniors in the same age range having gum disease.

Public health is reminding seniors of the Canadian Dental Care Plan and Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program aimed to support those facing financial barriers to receiving routine and restorative dental services.
