North Huron council spent time discussing an expression of interest regarding the Wingham Town Hall Theatre Operations.

In June council directed staff to get a report regarding the potential contracting out of the Wingham Town Hall Theatre operations to a third party.

An RFP closing date was put on October 8th with just one submission received.

When a discussion about a trial period for the operations came up, Denise Lockie, Community Engagement Coordinator says with how the Theatre operates there could be a competing time frame.

“You have to understand the business of the theatre, they do run multiple months in advance. A one year trial is fine but if you had a two year you’d be able to evaluate it during an active year so something new could come and start that January 1st so just be mindful of that competing time frame.” said Lockie.

Ultimately council agreed to direct staff to draft a Town Hall Theatre Operations Service agreement who have chosen to contract the operations to the private production company.

The agreement will come back to council for final approval.
