A $17,300 grant for the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey-Bruce will be well used.
The grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation given last summer was used to help the YMCA upgrade the heating system in the aquatics centre with the work taking place over this fall.
The YMCA says by stabilizing the pools temperature there will be increased usage and programming opportunities and have no need for waiting times between sessions.
The new system will also reduced the demand on holding tanks, leading to a cut in the utility bill.
