Bruce Power is looking at producing new medical isotopes, given the success over the last years of the Isotope Production System.

Two years ago the system was launched and now Bruce Power is eyeing to expand their capabilities to ensure a stable supply of cancer fight medical isotopes for the world healthcare community.

A letter has been sent to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission outlining Bruce Power’s intention to install the proprietary IPS on other units.

Bruce Power is looking to install a second IPS in Unit 6 by 2027 and increase redundancy and capacity even further.

To ensure the supply chain remains strong during Unit 7’s life extending refurbishment outage to start in late 2028, Bruce Power is planning to install a second IPS in Unit 6 by 2027.
