The Goderich Gas Bar at Suncoast Mall is now closed with the fuel tanks removed. After many years of serving the community, the gas bar closed on Thursday.
Edward Fuels distributed a wide range of petroleum products other goods across Ontario.
The company started way back at the end of World War II under the name the Edward Coal Company by Don Edward’s farther.
Edward Fuels owner Don Edward says they had been trying to redevelop the site where they are but just couldn’t get a deal done with the landlord.
“It’s got old single wall steel tanks which were a concern to me but we just could not come to a reasonable agreement with the landlord or his lawyers, we had been working on this for three years. Unfortunately all our dedicated customers are going to have to go elsewhere for fuel in this area” said Edward.
Edward says the time he’s looking into retiring, with the company in the hands of McDougall Energy.
