Heading into 2025, the need for services at the Huron Women’s Shelter has proven to be more in need than ever.

In the last year the shelter has provided space for 52 women and their children, answering over 2000 crisis calls and supported 148 women in their transition program.

Genelle Reid, Fund Development and Public Education Coordinator for the Huron Women’s Shelter says they are dealing with the increased cost of living like everyone else.

“The groceries, the gas those basic necessities. For folks being able to donate gift cards to our program it allows women the dignity to do some of the shopping for themselves, potentially get some extra groceries for Christmas time. Those types of the things are some of the highest needs for us.’ said Reid.

Those who want to show their support for the Women’s Shelter can donate cash and cheque donations and view the needs list for items most in need for the shelter.
