The Ontario government is advancing pre-development work for a Pumped Storage Project in Meaford.
The project, the largest of its kind in Canada would provide up to 1000 megawatts of clean affordable and reliable electricity storage which could power one million homes for up to 11 hours.
The facility would pump water from Georgian Bay up to reservoir during periods of low electricity demand and release the water back into Georgian Bay.
Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce says the Ontario Pumped Storage Project has the potential to store and deliver clean, affordable energy for decades.
