Work has now begun on the rebuild of the Goderich Courthouse square.

While speaking on Friday during the Mayor Luncheon, Trevor Bazinet says its a big project for them to undertake but one needed as it will replace an over 100 year old level of infrastructure downtown to help address safety and accessibility.

Bazinet says they’re taking this level of work in a phased approach.

“We’re going to start from South Street work our way to East Street. Phase 1 which will hopefully be done by August and then Phase 2 will be back to South Street and work our way to West Street and hopefully that phase will be done by Remembrance Day and it’ll shutdown for the winter. It’ll start back up for the other half in 2026.” said Bazinet.

While work is taking place for the next while, residents are reminded businesses are still open and serving customers during the construction.
