Public Health Sharing Tips to Avoid Ticks

Its tick season across the area and Grey Bruce Public Health is reminding residents to take steps to prevent tick bites.

Blacklegged ticks are capable of transmitting bacteria, viruses and parasites which can cause serious diseases.

Public health says its best to take these measures when walking, hiking, cycling or spending time in outdoor areas such as near trees, shrubs, tall grass or piles of leaves.

Public health says to use bug spray, wearing closed toe shoes and walking on cleared paths or trails.
