It’s been a rather busy time for the Goderich Legion who this past weekend welcomed the District Convention.

Occurring every year with Legion Branches, Goderich welcomed 49 branches within the district with 186 people in the hall.

As November gets closer, the Legions biggest campaign of the year will begin, the Poppy Campaign.

Randy Carroll, President of the Goderich Legion says last year they were able to bring in much support for local veterans and the community from the campaign.

“We raised a little of $50,000 and we gave $38,000 back to veterans and their families and those contributions go straight across the board, they could be to service dogs or to the homeless or helping those in need for medical assistance. We also make donations to the hospital fund on behalf of veterans.” said Carroll.

The Poppy Campaign officially kicks off on the last Friday of October which falls on the 31st this year.
