Nature Conservancy Canada says a robust network has helped protect Saugeen Peninsula’s iconic waters which will be a benefit to local communities.
This now filled gap will be delivering nearly 20 additional hectares of land and shoreline which will trickle benefits back into the community.
A newly conserved Baptist Harbour property protects the waters and fresh air.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada worked alongside government, corportations, foundations and other supporters to secure the new property on Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory.
Jacob Kloeze, Program Director for Midwestern Ontario’s Nature Conservancy of Canada says Baptist Harbour is a small but might conservation win in one of Canada’s most treasured natural areas and by securing this central piece of land within an existing conservation corridor, increased benefits will be felt by nature and people alike.
