Home sales continue to be down across the Huron Perth region as the issue of housing affordability persists.

According to numbers from the Huron Perth Association of REALTORS 170 units were sold in August 2022. This was down 31.5% from August 2021, but a slight uptick over the 162 units sold in July.

Julie Heitbohmer, president of the association, says there’s a new housing supply entering the market, but it seems like sellers haven’t adjusted their pricing expectations to match what buyers are willing or can afford to pay.

The more comprehensive year-to-date average price for homes was $693,463, increasing by 19.1% from the first eight months of 2021.
