The Canadian Anti Fraud Centre alerted of a new variation of extortion being used.

They say Fraudsters are sending emails with a letter proporting to be from Service Canada and the Federal Government.

If a person calls the number on the letter the fraudsters will ask for your Social Insurance Number and threaten you that if you don’t send funds immediately you will be arrested.

The CAFC says it is a scam.

The letter uses things such as a fake case number, fake name and fake position within the government to seem credible.

You can find the example of the fraud letter being sent out above.
