Home sales in the region returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2022, as both real estate groups in the area reported a down year.
The Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound saw a 32.4% decline in sales from 2021, selling 2,367 units.
The Huron Perth Association of Realtors also had a sizable drop of 19.3% from 2021, selling 1,907 units last year.
In a release, Julie Heitbohmer, outgoing president of the Huron Perth Association said is wasn’t a surprise that activity returned to 2018-19 levels. She hopes that with interest rates stabilizing and a robust supply of new listings, that activity will pick up in the spring.
The comprehensive annual average price of homes in Huron Perth was $668,608 in 2022 up 13.2% from the year prior. In Grey Bruce, it was $693,726, a 6.5% increase from 2021.
