Assault with a Weapon Charges laid after Incident with Knife in Goderich

Suspect displayed a knife and threatened harm to 3 Youth outside a Business

Huron County OPP has a Goderich resident in custody on several charges following an incident that took place in Goderich this past weekend.

Just before 6:30 on Sunday night police responded to a business on Victoria Street South after learning someone had displayed a knife and threatened harm against 3 youth outside a business.

The youth were able to flee  and escape injury however when a witness intervened the accused used the knife to cause damage to their vehicle.

The suspect fled the scene however officers on patrol later that night located and arrested the suspect.

A 53 year old male of Goderich is facing the charges of 4 counts of assault with a weapon, 3 counts of uttering threats to cause death, mischief under $5000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 10, 2021 at a Goderich court.
