The Ontario Hockey League announced Monday that Owen Sound Defenceman Mark Wooley has been named the 2021-22 recipient of the Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy.
The award is selected by a committee of media as the OHL captain that best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice, with a passion and dedication to the game of hockey and community that Mickey demonstrated.
Wooley in receiving the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy previously, as the OHL Humanitarian of the Year, was thanks to his well-documented charitable work off the ice this past season and also meant a $25,000 donation to Diabetes Canada.
Wooley was diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic as a teenager and has raised upwards of $60,000 for Diabetes Canada throughout his time in the OHL.
Wooley is the first Attack player to win the Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy.
