Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kincardine & District held an Open House this afternoon and part of the reason was to announced a name change today due to it expanding its catchment area.
Yolanda Ritsema, Executive Director explains the situation of the wait list with the new Big Brothers Big Sisters South Bruce North Huron.
“Prior to the expansions we had about 50 mentees in our program. The average wait time is 25 months for a little to get matched to a big. And with the expansions that pretty much doubled and we are up to 92 mentees.”
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was present at the event to present a cheque from the Trillium Foundation for them to hire a marketing person. She says these organizations are crucial.
“Thank you to all of the Board of Directors and Yolanda and her team at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Because if ever there was a time it is now.”
