Brockton Holds Emergency Meeting About Walkerton Service Reductions Set for Next Week

Brockton Council held an Emergency Council Meeting at Noon today to respond to the announcement of pending service reductions at the Walkerton Hospital and the Inpatient Unit in Chesley set to come into effect next Monday.

In the subsequent statement Council says they have passed a resolution advocating on the importance of healthcare services, opposing the reductions at both the Walkerton and Chelsey Hospitals, and request the Ministry of health and Long-Term Care to intervene to find an immediate solution.

Council further says they have requested that the County of Bruce consider retaining a health services expert to review the nursing staff shortages in southern Bruce County and consider soliciting financial contributions of up to $10,000 per impacted Municipality to assist in addressing the shortage.
