Bruce County Council & Committees held it’s meeting yesterday morning and among the issues discussed and dealt with was the request for an Official Plan Amendment made by the Dreammaker Campground.
The site in Southampton was looking to confirm an expansion that had been undertaken over time that had seen it exceed its permitted 118 campsites and is sitting at 168.
This expansion was based on past engineering studies with the previous property owner showing that the lands could support up to 300 campsites with 5 additional septic systems.
None of the work of the expansion was done by the previous owner but the revision to the Plan was approved by Council with just a holding provision for the additional 27 sites to restrict their use until the design capacity of the septic systems is confirmed and possibly expanded.
The current owners the Hofers are intending to retire and are seeking to amendment the Zoning Bylaw to reflect the historic use of the lands, which has been in place since at least 2005.
