The Bruce County Public Library is celebrating Black History Month with a story highlighting cultural resilience and the fight for recognition.

The award winning short documentary, Patty vs Patty will be presented on February 2nd at the Port Elgin branch.

The story follows the 1985 Toronto Patty Wars when Canadian federal food inspector deemed Jamaican beef patties were illegally named and threatened vendors with $5000 fines and vendors resisted, refusing the rename the beloved Jamaican snack.

The event is free to attend and explores the celebration of Black History Month.
