The Bruce County Public Library, Museum & Cultural Centre have added FamilySearch to their in-person resources after receiving Affiliate status.

The designation allows local library & museum patrons to access more genealogy records through Family Search. It is a non-profit, volunteer-driven genealogy organization, the largest of its kind worldwide. Millions of people use their records, resources, and services to learn more about their family history.

The service has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical records. They add over 300 million genealogical records and images per year.

The Bruce County Genealogical Society, whose reference library is housed in the Research Room at the Museum & Cultural Centre, has identified some of the historical images which may of interest to Bruce COunty residents, including Ontario Surrogate Court, Early local church minute books, and German Catholic and Scottish Parish Registers.

For more information on FamilySearch you can ask at your next visit to the Bruce County Museum or Public Library Branch.
