Bruce Power announced recently that it, as well as its partners and skilled tradespeople have kicked off the Unit 4 Major Component Replacement Program as part of its Life-Extension Program.

The outage represents the middle of the company’s MCR project that will see Units 3 to 8 renewed to provide clean, reliable energy for decades to come, while also ensuring a dependable source of cancer-fighting isotopes to the world health-care community.

The 3-year outage of Unit 4 is the company’s third MCR, building off the success of the Unit 6 and 3 projects.

The total value of the all of the rebuild projects is $13 billion dollars and it is Canada’s 3rd largest infrastructure project behind BC’s Peace River Site C hydroelectric project and Ontario’s Go transit expansion.
