The Town of Saugeen Shores received a letter from Ron MacLellan of the Bruce Shrine Club yesterday offering to sponsor or assist in sponsoring a new hydraulic lift for the new Aquatic and Wellness Centre set for Port Elgin.

The letter was received at the Committee of the Whole meeting and was accepted by council.

Secretary of the Club Bill Blackwell says it fits in with what the club does for the community.

“It would go along with what we do for people who need some therapy and all that.  A lot of time getting people in and out of pools is required.  So it fits in with what we do with helping people.”

The lift, the club said in the letter, would improve the safety of the disabled to enter and exit the the water with little effort and encourage more frequent visits to the new pool.
