Central Huron council has decided to not remove the Alice Munro bench in Clinton.
Council discussed the issue of honouring Nobel Laureate and former Clinton resident Alice Munro which all became a larger topic after it was learned Andrea Robin Skinner had been sexually assaulted by her stepfather Gerry Fremlin and claimed her mother, Alice Munro had known about it for years but still remained with Fremlin.
Mayor Jim Ginn praised Skinner for her bravery while also hoping the revelations wouldn’t tarnish Munro’s literacy legacy.
Ginn added he had received multiple emails with mixed reviews about removing the bench and for now, council has no plans to remove the bench.
