The Huron County OPP is investigating a report of a phone scam where the fraudster posed as a bank employee.

A Central Huron resident contacted police on March 20th reporting the loss of almost $15,000 from their bank account.

The victim was contacted by someone posing as a bank employee who needed their banking info.

They were convinced it was legitimate and provided the info.

They then discovered the loss from their line of credit account.

Police offer tips to avoid being scammed including not to give out any personal information, not to accept friend requests from anyone you don’t know, invest in a platform you don’t  know or send money to people you haven’t met.
