Despite some nasty weather over the weekend that closed Hwy 21, the 40th annual Port Elgin Superspiel went ahead without a hitch.
The annual Saugeen Shores bonspiel was fittingly claimed by Alex Champ. His rink out of Kitchener Waterloo beat Newfoundland’s Greg Smith 6-0 in Sunday’s final, earning $3,000 in prize money.
Champ may possibly return for the Scotties Ontario Tankard in January if his team earns enough points.
