Ontario’s acting auditor general says the province’s removal of three point turns, parallel parking and other requirements in the G class driving test was done without a full review and could be impacting road safety.

Nick Stavropoulous in his annual report says that the removal of these maneuvers were done to clear the backlog of road tests caused by the pandemic.

The audit also found novice drivers from urban areas were choosing to take their road tests in rural or suburban areas and less experienced drivers from other countries had higher collision rates suggesting their driving abilities are not being tested effectively.
