The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby wrapped up yesterday, with a Durham man taking home top prize.

Mark Aljoe caught the largest fish, a 26.44 pound chinook salmon, on August 1, winning $15,000 in prize money. Gaige Jackson of Saugeen Shores had the largest trout, a 20.84 pounder that earned him $7,500.

The derby committee announced over social media that this was the most funds raised by the derby in over 20 years.

They will be presenting a $50,000 donation to the Lake Huron Fishing club to run their hatcheries next year.
