The South Bruce Grey Health Centre has announced the emergency departments at the Chesley and Walkerton hospitals will be closing overnight for the weekend.
The closures begin today starting at 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday. The ED will close during those same windows on Saturday and Sunday night as well, resuming normal hours at 7 a.m. on Monday morning.
Patients who are in need of care are asked to visit their closest hospital, which for most would be in Hanover.
The Health Centre says the closures are due to a number of recent leaves of some senior experienced nurses and a significant shortage of RNs, noting all efforts to find staff have been undertaken without success.
