This years Huron-Bruce Kidney Walk is all set go next month.
Taking place at Station Beach in Kincardine dubbed Christopher’s Crew the event began when Christopher Pennington was diagnosed with Henoch-Scholein Purpura at 11 years old, an autoimmune disorder which can cause chronic kidney disease.
Christopher became a spokesperson for Kidney disease after this spending the last several years fundraising for kidney research across Grey, Bruce and Huron counties.
Cathy Pennington, Christopher’s mother says starting next week they’ll launch a online auction which has seen success for the walk.
“For the past 7 years we’ve hosted an online auction where various business from Exeter all the way to Kincardine, we approach them and ask for prizes and we host it on our Facebook page. All proceeds go to the Kidney Walk. Last year we made $7000 on our auction” said Pennington.
Since 2015, Christopher and his crew have raised over $100,000 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
